    10 arrested while preparing to commit robbery by dressing as Hindus in Tangail.

    Police have arrested 10 members of an inter-district robbery gang from Mirzapur upazila of Tangail. The Intelligence Branch (DB) said that they were arrested while preparing to commit a robbery by dressing up as Hindus. They were later arrested in a robbery case. Eight of the 10 people are women. They were arrested from Sohagpara area of ​​the upazila based on secret information. The operation was led by DB (North) officer-in-charge ABMS Doha.

    During this time, the Hiace microbus and grill cutter and other robbery tools used by them were seized. The arrested Taslima (32), Asma Begum (30), Aleya (37), Taslima (32), Sonia Akhter (21), Rafia Akhter (26) and Surat Miah (38) are from Dharmandal village of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. Besides, Aklima Begum (40) is from Sarail in the same upazila, Julekha Begum (31) is from Baghasura in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj and Selim Sarkar is from Kushmail Tekipara village in Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh. Police said that the 10 arrested people are accused of involvement in various crimes including robbery. They came to Mirzapur from Salna in Gazipur with the intention of committing the robbery.

    The female robbers were wearing vermilion on their heads, tilak on their foreheads and conch shells in their hands, police said. Tangail District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Saiful Islam Santu said, “During initial interrogation, they admitted that they used to rob different places after collecting information in advance.”

    “To hide their true identity, they would sometimes wear clothes that made them appear to be Hindus or followers of some other religion,” he said. Saiful added, “The police are investigating to find out who else is involved with this group.” Mirzapur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Monir Hossain has filed a robbery case as the plaintiff in this incident.
