Barguna Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abdul Halim said that the initial investigation of the body suggests that the matter may be a murder. Montu’s relatives and the police believe that Montu was killed sometime on Tuesday night. On seeing Montu’s body around 1 am, the relatives called the national emergency service number 999 and informed the police.
The relatives of the deceased said that when they called Montu’s mobile phone because he did not come home at the appointed time, they heard the sound of the mobile phone on the bank of the pond behind the house. Later, they went there and found Montu’s body. At that time, Montu’s clothes were wet, there were bite marks on his hands and mud all over his body. Later, the police were informed. The police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Barguna General Hospital.
The relatives also said that a week ago, Montu filed a case in court on charges of raping a seventh-grade girl. The next day, the police arrested the main accused in the case. Since then, Montu and his family have been threatened by the arrested accused’s family and other accused, Montu’s relatives alleged. The date of the case was Wednesday, and the body of the plaintiff in the case, Montu, was found the night before.
The deceased’s wife, Shikha Rani Das, said, “He called me at night and said he would be late. Later, even though it was late at night, he did not return home. Later, when I kept calling the phone, I heard the ringtone ringing in the bushes. I want justice for my husband’s murder.”
Barguna Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abdul Halim said, “Upon receiving the news, we went to the spot and examined Montu’s body. Initially, it is being considered as a murder. Investigation is underway regarding the suspects the family suspects. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
