Deceased Bimal Bachar 36, and His wife with son

Bimal Bachar (36) is the name of a poor farmer. He is the younger son of the Late  Shricharan Bachar of Uttar Dhandoba (Ward No. 7) village of Barthi Union, Gournadi Upazila, Barisal district. He lives in a poor family of 5 members including 2 daughters, 1son, and his wife. Half-starvation and starvation are their daily companions. Bimal, a daily wage worker, has tried his best to survive by taking loans and borrowing money.

There is not even an inch of land for cultivation except for the house where he lived. The family was living in poverty by working as daily wage laborers on other people’s land. Depressed by the hardships of poverty, he took a loan of 5,000 from a neighbor at a weekly interest of 500 taka. Although he was able to repay the interest properly for a few weeks, he had to struggle to repay the high interest and the interest payment was delayed. As a result, on Friday, March 11, 2025, on the way home late at night, Bimal Bachhar was beaten up by his creditor and when his condition deteriorated, he poured poison in his mouth (the report is written according to the family’s statement, information and evidence preserved).

Bimal Bachhar, who was in critical condition, breathed his last at 4:30 pm the next day, Saturday, March 12, while undergoing treatment at Sagardi Hospital in Barisal. After the postmortem at Sagardi Hospital, the funeral was held at the deceased’s house on Sunday, March 13.

With the death of Bimal Bachar, the last hope of a family’s survival ends. The eldest daughter Srabani (13) is in 8th grade, Ratna (9) is in 3rd grade and the only son Anik is only 5 years old. How will the unfortunate Archana Bachar, the widow of the deceased Bimal Bachar, keep her three minor children alive? That is the big question now.
