A mother of three was raped in her own home in Raipura, Narsingdi. The rapist and his accomplices threatened to slaughter her husband if she told anyone about the incident. On Monday (March 17, 2025) afternoon, the victim appeared at the Narsingdi Superintendent of Police’s office and narrated the incident to Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Kalimullah. After hearing the incident, the Additional Superintendent of Police ordered the officer-in-charge of Raipura police station to take legal action.
According to the victim, on Sunday night (March 16, 2025) around 9 pm during Tarawih prayers, Md. Rakib Miah (32), son of Md. Ratan Miah of the same area, entered the victim’s house and forcibly raped her, finding her alone in the house. Rakib’s two accomplices who were present at the time recorded the video of the rape on their mobile phones. Rakib and his accomplices snatched the gold ornaments from the woman’s ears and neck. While leaving, they threatened to slaughter the husband and wife together if she told anyone about the incident.
Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Adil Mahmud said, “The Additional Superintendent of Police called and informed me about the matter. I have instructed the inspector (investigation) to take necessary action. A drive has been launched to arrest the accused. A case is under process in this regard. Later (March 19) in the afternoon, a human chain was held in front of the Narsingdi Press Club under the banner of people from all walks of life in Rahimabad village of Amirganj union of the upazila. The speakers in the human chain said, we demand the immediate arrest of rapist Rakib Miah and his two accomplices and exemplary punishment. So much rape is happening in the country but the criminals are out of reach. They are not being tried. Raising questions, the speakers said, those involved in the rape should be arrested immediately and given the death penalty. Otherwise, the people will be forced to take the law into their own hands.
