
A Hindu headmaster in Chittagong has been forced to resign. It is reported that a group of local people are involved in a dispute over the school’s management committee. The teacher has reportedly fallen ill after resigning.
It is learnt that the incident took place on Wednesday (January 8, 2025) at Purba Baroia Thanda Miah Chowdhury High School in Anwara Upazila of Chittagong. The victim of the incident is the headmaster Chandan Mahajan.
It is learnt that a group of local corrupt people have incited some parents and students by making various false allegations against the headmaster Chandan Mahajan. Among them are people who want to take over the school management committee. They have alleged that Chandan Mahajan has made Islamophobic remarks. They have also alleged against him that if someone has beard he is a militant if. And raise false alligation is that he has made bad comment about hijab and niqab. In addition, allegations of irregularities and corruption have also been raised.
It is learnt that on Wednesday (January 8), Headmaster Chandan Mahajan was called to the Secondary Education Officer’s office to investigate the allegations. But at that time, a group of students were suddenly brought there. They demanded the headmaster’s resignation without any investigation. Later, Headmaster Chandan Mahajan was forced to submit his resignation letter to Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tahmina Akhter against his will.
A teacher at the school, who did not want to be named, said, “Most of the allegations have been made to frame the headmaster Chandan Mahajan by spreading religious hatred. Small children are being incited to join the movement. But many of them do not even know what the teacher’s crime is.” A local parent complained, “The main reason behind this harassment incident is a conflict with the committee.
