A farmer named Budh Lal Das (42) was hacked to death by miscreants on his way back from a concert in Lakhai. The murder happened in the early hours of Thursday (January 11, 2024). The deceased Budh Lal Das is the son of Maharaj Das of Helarkandi village of Bulla Union of Upazila. According to local sources, there was a music event in Barakandi village of the same upazila on Wednesday night. Baul artistes from different parts of the country came and performed songs there. After listening to songs throughout the night, Budh Lal Dash left for home early in the morning. On the way, when he reached a place called Katakandi, the miscreants hacked him with a sharp weapon and wounded him. Later he was rescued and taken to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Lakhai Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Champak Dham said that the body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem. Initially it seems that he was hacked to death due to prior enmity. The police is investigating the matter. The culprits will be brought to justice soon.
