There have been allegations of burning Pratimas (Idols) and worship equipment inside two temples in Kashiani, Gopalganj. The incident took place on Monday (January 20, 2025) night in Tarail Uttarpara village of Fukra union of the upazila, said Kashiani Police Station OC Md. Shafiuddin Khan.
Pramath Biswas, a priest of the Tarail Uttarpara Public Durga Temple, said, “I worship at the temple every morning and evening. Like every Tuesday morning, when I went to worship at the temple, I saw the bamboo door open. “Later, when I entered the Durga temple, I saw that the worship equipment had been set on fire.”In addition, the idol of the goddess at the nearby Shitala temple was set on fire with jute and charcoal. I will inform everyone about this later.”
Upon receiving the news, Kashiani Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Farzana Jannat, Additional Superintendent of Police (Muksudpur Circle) Md. Abdul Bashed, OC Md. Shafiuddin Khan, Ramdia Investigation Center In-charge Imdadul Haque, UP Chairman Shah Ishtiaq Patu, and Union Land Officer Nazmul Hasan visited the scene.
Kashiani Police Station OC Md. Shafiuddin Khan said, “We have inspected the scene. Legal action will be taken after investigation.” However, no one has filed a written complaint with the police station so far, the OC said. Source- bangla.bdnews24.com
