The deceased’s cousin Khokon Sarkar said, “Like every day, today at around 8:30 pm, he (Dilip Das) was preparing to close the shop and go home. His wife was also with him at that time. While he was closing the shutter of the shop, three miscreants pulled the gold bag from his neck. Unable to take the bag, the miscreants hacked Dilip with a machete and snatched the gold bag from him and quickly left the scene.” The deceased’s wife Saraswati Das said, “He was closing the shop to go home. I was with him. At that time, someone from behind pulled his gold bag. There were three of them, all of them young. Unable to take the bag on the first attempt, they hacked Dilip with a machete and snatched the bag he was carrying. Later, when we started screaming, the miscreants burst two cocktails and fled the scene.”
She added, “There was 20 to 25 bahris of gold in the bag. There was also cash.” However, he could not immediately reveal the amount of cash in the bag. Enam Medical College Hospital Emergency Medical Officer Merajur Rehan Pavel said, “He was brought to our hospital at around 10:30 pm in a seriously injured condition. There were deep sharp weapon injuries on his chest, face, and back. Inspector (Investigation) of Ashulia Police Station Md. Kamal Hossain, who was present at the scene at night, said, “In the CCTV footage, we saw that when Dilip was leaving the shop after closing the door, four people hit Dilip from behind. Later, when he turned around, he was hit again. Later, the miscreants ran away from the scene with a bag belonging to Dilip. The footage showed smoke, probably because they exploded a cocktail while fleeing. We, along with DB, Dhaka District Police, are already working seriously on the matter, and work is underway to bring the criminals under the law.” Source-dhakatribune.com.
