
A murder case has been filed at the police station after the body of a bicycle mechanic named Animesh Sarkar was found hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck in Langaldaria village of Sriula Union in Asashuni Upazila of Satkhira. The victim’s mother, Shefali Rani Sarkar, filed the case at Asashuni Police Station on Saturday (January 25, 2025) night without mentioning anyone’s name. The police have detained three people for questioning on charges of involvement in the incident.
The deceased, Animesh Sarkar, is the son of Niranjan Sarkar of Langaldaria village in Sriula union of Asashuni upazila. After strangling to death over a dispute over land boundaries, Animesh Sarkar, a bicycle mechanic, was hanged from a neem tree with a rope around his neck and made to look like a suicide. Dr. Rahul Deb Roy, Medical Officer of Satkhira Sadar Hospital, said that it is initially believed that Animesh was strangled to death.
Noman Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Asashuni Police Station, said that initially it is believed that he was strangled to death and then his body was hung from a neem tree in Babul Akhter to promote suicide. He added that the police have detained Abdul Malek Malik, his brother Ahid Malik and a tea shop owner named Zilur Rahman for questioning. They are currently being interrogated in the custody of the detective police. After the autopsy, Animesh’s body has been handed over to his relatives. News source-skhobor
