After seeing the pictures circulating online, including on social media platforms like Facebook, most people have said that this is not a suicide at all. The style of the picture makes it look like a planned murder.
An online news portal called Bangladesh Bulletin has published the news that, police have recovered the hanging body of an army personnel named Durjoy Shil from the Banani area. His body was recovered at around 7:30 am on Monday. Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Russell Sarwar confirmed the matter on Monday (April 21, 2025) night.
Russell Sarwar said, “On Monday morning, upon receiving information, the hanging body of an army member named Durjoy Shil was recovered. We have learned that he is an army corporal. A rope was wrapped around his neck. After the recovery, his body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.”
He said, “It is not possible to say initially how he died. The cause of death will be known after the autopsy.” Meanwhile, a picture of a man dressed in an army uniform hanging from a tree was circulated on social media.
Multiple posts say that Durjoy Shil was on duty as the guard commander of the Army Stadium area since 2 am to 6 am on Sunday night. A soldier named Mamun saw Corporal Durjoy hanging with a fan around his neck in the guard room of the Banani Army Stadium at around 6 am on Monday. However, when contacted, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate did not want to comment on the matter.
