Police have recovered the body of a retired college teacher from his house in the Barabazar area of Netrokona town. There are signs of injury on the head. Police are considering it a murder. The deceased college teacher has been identified as Dilip Kumar Roy (66), a retired teacher of the agriculture department of Abu Abbas Degree College, Netrokona. His body was recovered from under the bed of his house in Barabazar around 11:30 am on Friday (January 10, 2025).
Citing locals, district police spokesperson and additional superintendent of police Lutfar Rahman said that his wife Niva Rani Saha went to visit her son’s house in Dhaka a few days ago. Since then, teacher Dilip Kumar Roy has been alone at home. At around 10 am today, his wife Niva Rani returned from Dhaka and found the front gate of the house locked. Later, with the help of locals, she entered the house and found the grill locked as well. In this situation, she and the locals broke the lock and entered the house and saw the body lying under the bed. On receiving the information, the police went and recovered the body and sent it to the Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The police official said, “The body has injury marks on its head. Based on the injury marks and the surrounding circumstances, in the initial investigation, we believe that teacher Dilip Kumar Roy was murdered. An investigation has been launched to unravel the mystery of the murder, whether it was due to theft or some other reason.”
Meanwhile, the district’s Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has launched a shadow investigation into the incident. A PBI team visited the scene and collected evidence. Source-dailysokalersomoy
