A Hindu house was robbed in broad daylight in Kotalipara, Gopalganj. The robbers killed the only son of the house owner, Pias Majumdar (22). The incident took place in the Lakirpar area of the upazila between 9 am and 12 noons on Tuesday (March 11, 2025).

It is learnt that on Tuesday morning, as usual, rural dentist Paul Majumder and his wife, nurse Anita Vaidya, left their son Pias at home and went to work. When Paul Majumder returned home around 12:30 pm, he found the cupboard drawers open and everything scattered. He screamed when he saw his son Pias on the bed with his hands, feet and face tied. Neighbors rushed to rescue Pias and took him to the Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared him dead. Neighbor Salman Majumder said, “Hearing the screams, we rushed to their home and saw Pias’ hands, feet and face tied. We quickly sent him to the hospital. We saw all the furniture in Khokon Majumder’s house broken and lying in a messy state, so we informed the police.”
The robbers looted gold ornaments, cash and valuables from the house, relatives said. Kotalipara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said, “The body has been recovered and sent to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.” Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman visited the scene, the OC said. Source- dhakatribune.com.
