    Hindu jewellery trader rescued 3 hours after being kidnapped in Jessore, 2 arrested.

    Dhirendra Nath, a gold trader from Chaugachha Municipality in Jessore, was rescued three hours after his abduction. At that time, the Chaugachha Police Station arrested two kidnappers. He was picked up in a microbus from in front of a food warehouse on the Chaugachha-Jasore road at around 7:30 pm on Monday (January 6, 2025). The abducted Dhiren is the owner of Uttam Jewellers in Swarnapatri in Chaugachha town.

    The kidnapped Dhiren’s wife Padmaranid said that he is physically very ill. He cannot sit in the shop. Now elder son sits in the shop. He left the house before evening and went to the shop. He asked son to close the shop and came home. Later, seeing that his son was late coming home, he left the house again in the evening to go to the shop. When his son came home after closing the shop, I asked him, where is your father? The son told me that his father did not go to the shop later. Then I told him to call your father. When he called, the phone was switched off. I told my son that your father is very sick and to take him home.

    At one stage of the search, I found out that someone had taken him away in a white microbus from the Jessore bus stand area of ​​the city in the evening. Dhiren’s son Uttam Kumar De said, “My father was kidnapped by terrorists. Last Monday, there was a Halkhata in our shop. Many people know about the Halkhata. The terrorists may have kidnapped my father for the money in that Halkhata. They called me from my father’s mobile and demanded Tk 2 million.”

    Upon receiving the news, Upazila BNP President MA Salam, Upazila Jamaat Assistant Secretary Master Kamal Ahmed, BNP leaders Ataur Rahman Lal, Govinda Kumar Raha and Press Club Chaugachha Joint General Secretary MA Rahim, among others, rushed to the house of the kidnapped Dhirendra Nath.

    Confirming the incident, Chaugachha Police Station OC Kamal Hossain said, “We started an operation to rescue the victim after receiving the information. Three teams of Chaugachha Police Station worked to rescue him. We followed the vehicle carrying the ransom money. The kidnappers were caught in our trap.” Source  khulnagazette
