Mithun Biswas of Tarail village in Dumuria union of Gopalganj held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
“Then I informed the UNO and the local dignitaries about the matter. They asked file a GD at the police station.”
An allegation has been received in Tungipara Upazila of Gopalganj that a Hindu youth’s Facebook ID was hacked and anti-Islamic posts were posted. Mithun Biswas (40) of Tarail village in Dumuria union of the upazila made the allegation at a press conference at the Public Rights Council office on Wednesday (April 09, 2025) afternoon.
In a written statement, he said, “I am a carpenter by profession. As a hobby, I bought an Android mobile phone about a year ago and opened a Facebook account with someone. After a few days, someone hacked the ID and started making provocative anti-Islamic posts from my ID. Then I informed the UNO and prominent people in the area about the matter. They asked me to file a GD at the police station.”
“Later on September 14 last year (2024), I filed a GD at Tungipara Police Station. In addition, on the advice of a former ward member, I submitted the mobile to the police station. Since then, I have been using a button mobile phone.” He said, “But suddenly, three days after Eid al-Fitr (March 31, 2025), provocative posts about Islam started being made from that Facebook account in my name. Tension has arisen over this. Locals are asking me various questions. I am terrified by this.
“Later, I filed a general diary (GD) at the police station. I am an ordinary person. But I demand that those who are doing this to frame me be identified and brought to justice.” Mizan Sikder, a former UP member of the Tarail area, said, “The Hindu boy has a little education and works as a carpenter. After the previous trouble, he submitted his Android phone to the police station on my advice.
“But still, someone is posting religiously provocative posts to frame the innocent boy. Earlier, Mithun was proven innocent after a meeting with the Islamic religious leaders of the area. The person posting the provocative posts about religion must be find out and punished.” Tungipara Police Station OC Khorshed Alam said, “The young man’s mobile phone is deposited with the police station. Still, postings are being made from his ID. We are working on the matter. “It is believed that a criminal gang may have done this to frame him.” Source-bangla.bdnews24.com
