It has been alleged that the flag of the militant organization ‘Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS)’ was carried in a protest march held by Muslims in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh to protest against the insults made by Indian priest Ramgiri and Minister Nitish Rane against the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The protesters took part in the protest march in front of the Shahidi Mosque on Station Road in the district town after Friday (October 4) afternoon prayers.
Many people are criticizing the march by posting pictures of people carrying the ISIS flag on social media. However, despite knowing about the protest march, local police members say they know nothing about the flag of the militant organization being carried. Journalist Kadruddin Shishir shared a picture of the procession on social media and wrote, “The ISIS flag was hoisted in the procession in the Station Road area of Kishoreganj (probably the video of Friday).
In the picture, it is seen that the black flag also has Kalema Tayyiba written in white Arabic letters on the upper part. Below it, inside the white circular part, three words Allah, Islam and Muhammad (PBUH) are written in black Arabic letters. Multiple pictures and videos of similar flags in the hands of active ISIS members in the Middle East are often seen.
On the other hand, a video of the procession was posted on social media from a Facebook account named Abu Bakr. The flag was also seen being carried in the procession in the video. However, the video post has not been seen since 11:30 pm.
When asked, Kishoreganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shyamal Mia told The Daily Campus on Friday night around 11 pm that a protest march was held in front of the Shaheed Mosque on Station Road in the district town in protest against the insults against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
