    Police have recovered the slit-throated body of a Hindu man named Utpal Roy (62) from a flat in Tanbazar Sahapara area of ​​Narayanganj city. Police recovered his body from the fourth-floor flat of the seven-story building owned by Shankar Saha at around 9:30 pm on Monday (February 10, 2025). Later, the body was sent to the Sadar General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

    The deceased Utpal Roy used to work in a flower mill. He was currently retired. One of his two sons lives abroad. Another son, Ujjwal Roy, is a doctor by profession and an official of Save the Children. After the death of his wife, he lived in the same flat with his son.

    Initially, it was reported that the deceased Utpal Roy was the project director of the non-governmental development organization (NGO) Save the Children, but it was later revealed that the information was not correct.

    The deceased’s son, Ujjwal Roy, said that a woman from the port area worked as a maid in their house. On Monday night, he returned home from work and found the door locked from the inside. Later, with the help of people from the neighboring flat, he broke the lock and entered and saw his father’s body lying on the floor with his throat slit. In addition, the miscreants took about 15 Bhari (174 grams) of gold ornaments and one lakh taka in cash left by the deceased’s mother from the cupboard.

    In this regard, Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nasiruddin said, the body has been recovered and sent to the hospital for autopsy. There is a cut on his neck.
