    An attack was made on a shop and temple of a person in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur. At that time, 10 people were beaten and injured when they tried to stop them. Police have arrested three people in this incident. The incident took place on Friday (February 14, 2025) night in Samantakathi village of Mathibhanganga union of the upazila, said Nazirpur police station OC Md. Mahmud Al-Farid Bhuiyan. The injured are – Samantakathi West Charpara Sri Sri Durga Temple President Milan Gain and his wife Irani Gain and businessman Revati Gain and his wife Bithi Gain. They have received treatment locally. The names and identities of the remaining injured could not be found.

    Police have arrested three people after a case was filed in this incident. The arrested are Chabbir Sheikh (23), Mustaqin Sheikh (20) and Nayan Sheikh (20). They are residents of Ward No. 5 of Mathibhanganga Union.

    Injured Revati Gain said, “A few days ago, some local boys were sitting in my tea shop drinking tea. At that time, they were using the free WiFi (internet) for a long time. I had an argument with them about this. Later, they threatened to see me and left. “Although there was a local level arbitration on Friday morning, they did not come. Later, 15 to 20 people came and attacked the shop at night. At that time, they started beating me and looting my goods. My wife Bithi was also beaten up for stopping her.”

    He said, “On their way back after the attack on the shop, they attacked the Shri Shri Durga Temple in Samanta Kathi West Charpara. At that time, the Durga Pratima of the temple was vandalized. When they stopped them, the temple committee president Milan Gain and his wife Irani were also beaten up.” Milan Gain said, “We ran after hearing Revati Gain’s screams during the attack on his shop. At that time, the attackers attacked us and started beating us. On their way back after the attack, they vandalized the temple and the idol. When they stopped them, they attacked us. The attackers were armed with rods and GI pipes.

    OC Mahmud Al-Farid Bhuiyan said, “Police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Three people have been arrested in this incident. Efforts are underway to arrest the rest. Revati Gain has filed a case with the police station in this incident,” he said. Upon receiving the information, work to restore the damaged temple and idols was underway on Saturday morning under the initiative of the upazila and district administration, said Temple Committee President Milan Gain.
