
Family members and locals suspect that Sukumar Das might have been murdered Police have recovered the body of eighty-year-old Sukumar Das, the caretaker of a Loknath temple that he founded in Madhya Mahmudabad village of Sitakunda Upazila in Chittagong. Police arrived at the scene at 9am on Monday and sent the body to the morgue of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The locals saw his body hanging from a tree with a rope tied to his neck near his house around 6am on Monday, with his feet touching the ground. Family members and locals suspect that Sukumar Das might have been murdered.
Son of the deceased, Jhantu Das, said: “My father cannot commit suicide. He was killed and hung from the tree. His feet were touching the ground when we discovered his body. There is the result of a family dispute over properties.”
Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda police station, said: “The body was recovered from the spot after we were informed. I have prepared an initial report on the death. After interviewing the locals, the entire incident seemed mysterious to me. A case will be filed based on the autopsy report.” Source- bd-bulletin
