
“Someone vandalized the only Saraswati idol in the temple at night.”
A Pratima of a temple was vandalized in Kazipur, Sirajganj. The incident took place on Saturday night (March 01, 2025) at the ‘Shikha Smriti Sarvajanin Durga Mandir’ in the upazila’s Sonamukhi Bazar, said Jatan Kumar Karmakar, the temple’s caretaker.
Upon receiving the news, Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dewan Akramul Haque and Kazipur Police Station OC Nur Alam visited the scene on Sunday morning. Temple caretaker Jatan Kumar Karmakar said, “I went to worship at the temple early Sunday morning and found the idol broken. There is a stainless steel fence in front of the paved temple.”

“Someone inserted bamboo from outside the temple and broke the Pratima and left it on the floor. The matter has been reported to the administration.” He demanded punishment for those involved in the incident. Kazipur Police Station OC Nur Alam said, “We have visited the scene.
