The body of a schoolboy has been found floating in the Arial Khan River in Belab Upazila of Narsingdi, 5 days after he went missing. His body was recovered from the Arial Khan River in the Dighaldikanda area of the upazila on Sunday (January 19, 2025). The deceased schoolboy has been identified as Anoy Chandra Modak (13). He is the son of Gaurang Chandra Modak of Belab Matial Para village in the upazila. He was a class 8 student of Belab Pilot Government Modern High School.
It is learned that on the evening of January 14, Anoy Chandra Modak went to Belab Bazaar to buy educational materials from his house. He went missing from there. His family searched in various places but could not find him. His family filed a general diary with Belab Police Station that night, which was later converted into a case.
Meanwhile, after the disappearance, there were posts on social media. Later, an unknown number called Ayon’s family number and demanded a ransom of one lakh taka. According to them, the ransom money was paid through bKash. At one stage, Belab Police Station started tracking the mobile numbers of the kidnappers. It was found that the bKash number used to send the money was in Bhola, Barisal. It is reported that a team from Belab Police Station is currently stationed in Bhola, Barisal to rescue Ayon.
Meanwhile, on Sunday (January 19, 25) afternoon, locals reported a floating body in the Arial Khan River in the Dighaldikandi area of Binnabaid Union of Belab Upazila. Members of the police, PBI, CID, and DB visited the scene. Anya’s family claims that this was a planned murder. They have demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the murder of Anya. In this regard, Belab Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Mahbubur Rahman said, “We went to the scene after receiving information about the body floating in the river. The relatives of the missing person believe that it is Anya’s body. After the autopsy and DNA test, it will be known whether it is his body or not.” Source- channel24bd
