The hanging body of a woman named Smriti Rani (35) has been recovered from a cowshed in Panchgachhi area of Kurigram Sadar Upazila. The body was recovered from the cowshed of Md. Rafiqul Islam’s house in Araji Kadam Tola area on Monday (March 24, 2025) afternoon. The deceased woman is the wife of Kartik of Gobindapur village in the same union. She is the mother of three children.
Villagers said that the deceased Smriti’s husband worked in Dhaka for a long time. She lived alone in the house with her three children. In this regard, the owner of the house, Rafiqul Islam, said, “I don’t know when and how this incident happened.” The family has not filed a case with the police in this incident yet. The police have also not been able to arrest any suspects.
Abdur Rahim, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, said, “Initially, the matter appears to be suicide. No case has been filed by the family. We have sent the body for autopsy. Legal action will be taken in this regard after the investigation is completed.” Source-Samakal.com.
