Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain has claimed that the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh has not been to the extent that has been reported. He said that there have been some isolated incidents in the country. However, the government is trying to control the law and order situation. He said these things at a press conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 18, 2025).
The religious advisor said that the government is strict regarding the banned organization Hizb ut Tahrir. They tried to hold a procession, but the government sabotaged it. He also said that action is being taken in the incident of the attack on the shrine.
Regarding the Hajj visa complications, he said, “This time, after about 80,000 Hajis went for Umrah, the rest are facing visa complications. When contacted by the Ministry of Religion, the Saudi government expressed regret for this temporary inconvenience and assured that they would get visas after Eid,” the religious advisor said.
