The Kotwali police have arrested two people in connection with the theft of money from a temple’s donation box in Chittagong. They were arrested in a raid in the Baklia police station area of the city on Friday (October 18) morning. Earlier, the theft of money took place from the Shri Shri Sarvajanin Brajdham temple in Enayet Bazar West Goalpara under Kotwali police station.
The two arrested are Jahidul Alam Sunny (20) and Helal (24). Both of them are members of a Muslim family. Out of them, Jahidul Alam Sunny was arrested from the alley of Miakhan Nagar Soap Factory under Baklia police station and Helal from Alam Kuthi area under Baklia police station. During interrogation, they confessed to stealing money from the temple’s donation box. Later, 4,300 taka in cash was seized from the accused Helal and 200 taka in cash from Jahidul.
Kotwali Police Station OC Mohammad Fazlul Quader Chowdhury said that on Thursday (October 17) at 7:30 am, Rana Das, general secretary of Shri Shri Sarvajanin Brajdham Puja Temple in Enayet Bazar West Goalpara under Kotwali Police Station in Chittagong City, went to the temple to offer prayers and found that the tin gate of the temple was open and two donation boxes were lying broken inside. The cash kept inside the two donation boxes was approximately 70,000 taka. Later, a case was filed at Kotwali Police Station in this incident. An investigation was launched and the accused were arrested with the help of technology. Source- Bangla Tribune
