An idol has been stolen from the traditional Arya Harisava Temple in Loudob Union of Dakop Upazila of Khulna. On Tuesday (March 26, 2025) at around 3 am, miscreants cut two locks of the temple and stole the Krishna Murti (idol).
Bapi Roy, member secretary of the Arya Harisava management committee, said that although there were CCTV cameras outside the temple, there was no security guard. On Tuesday, around 9 pm, after the daily activities of the temple, the servants and devotees locked the temple gate and left. Later, late at night, two people broke the lock of the temple and stole the brass Krishna Murti (idol).
CCTV footage from the temple shows two men in a shirt and pants walking towards the temple. Their faces were covered with monkey hats and they were holding a lock cutter. They were seen entering the temple and leaving with the Murti within two and a half minutes.
Dakop Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam said, “The police have inspected the scene. However, no case has been filed in this regard. The police are continuing all kinds of activities to catch the criminals.” Source-banglatribune.com
